A Message from Officer Kaila Sanders:
I'm excited to announce that we are going to be starting back up with regular trainings for the Pelican Fire Department volunteer members on the second Saturday of each month, at noon. I will complete the Tsunami Siren test at that time, and we will meet at whichever location we have scheduled for that day's training. These trainings are not mandatory as I know how busy everyone's schedule can be, however, they are the best way to ensure our community receives fast and efficient response from us in the event of an emergency. Everyone who is able to attend will receive documented training hours in their personnel file.
Our first training will be conducted on March 14th, 2026. We will meet at the harbor pump house, where Amber is going to walk us through starting and running the harbor pump. After this, we will test the fire hydrant line towards the City Hall side of town and up the hill. If we have time, we will test the hydrant line towards the flats after that. If not, that will be first up on our next training day.
Thank you all and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Community Hall Reminder:
Please do not open windows at the Community Hall. Some windows do not fully latch, and when the wind catches them, it can cause damage to the building. Keeping them closed helps maintain proper heating and protects the building. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in protecting this shared space!
We’re Hiring!
If you or someone you know may be interested in being a part-time solid waste operator, or a part-time fuel dock attendant, please visit the city website at www.cityofpelican.com/jobs for the full job descriptions and application details.
